Maybe redemption has stories to tell.

INT. LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

(As requested by Athalia Robinson, a new ‘concept’ this is just a one-off scene, from a non-existent script.)

A group of friends are hanging out together. They aren’t doing anything particularly fun, but each other’s company is enough to make this a night to remember. They sit on the ground in a misshapen circle, talking. Currently, HARRIET, 20, has the floor. Her joyful and captivating presentation of normal events have all ears and eyes on her. But this doesn’t go to her head, she isn’t driven by this attention. In fact she doesn’t understand it. But ADAM, 20, does and he can’t help but notice his own adoration for everything she does and says. But his voice is crippled by a traffic jam of thoughts rushing through his head, desperately trying to make their way to his mouth. Adam, having an out-of-body-experience, tries to convince himself to speak up.

                          GHOST ADAM

Ok, (Smiles) I know she’s cute,

But you gotta say something man,

               You’re invisible!

Harriet continues to talk, Adam continues to stare at her, wordless.

                         GHOST ADAM

Just listen to her story, then

               Comment on it, interject, say

               Something funny.

Harriet pauses for a second, Adam remains quiet while the others respond. Harriet then continues.

                          GHOST ADAM

Ok that would have been when

You were supposed to… do what we

Discussed. It doesn’t have to be

               Something funny, just say something.

               Something.

Adam can’t help but remain mesmerized and practically paralyzed by Harriet.

                          GHOST ADAM

What’s even going on in there?

               (Addressing Adam’s head)

                           ADAM (VO)

               She’s. So. Pretty.

There’s a moment of silence as this is Adam’s sole thought.

                          GHOST ADAM

               Ok, true, but not helpful!

               Adam, hey, Adam! You gotta

Give me something to work with!

Ghost Adam sighs and takes his eyes off of Adam for a moment. His gaze then turns to Harriet.

                          GHOST ADAM

               Wow, she is really pretty.
